Canterbury Photographic Society and Maidstone Photography Club were the 2 clubs representing the KCPA ( Kent County Photographic Association) at the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain inter club nationwide Championships on Sat 18th Oct in Blackburn.
The end of the first round of prints saw Canterbury PS in a position close to the middle of the scores, which was brilliant and very encouraging, given there were 36 competing clubs from across the UK , all producing their very finest work!
The 8 top scoring clubs progressed to compete in the final round and the rest, including us, presented their entries to try for the award known as the Plate.
Some seasoned attendees said that the judges would be 'kindly disposed ' towards the high scoring entries they had seen in the first round, as several of those could be entered again this time. But this year it was not the case, and image after image were marked a point or two down in this round. We were definitely 'up there' with the rest , in the quality and calibre of our presented selection but it was a stiff contest and the final results saw both Canterbury & Maidstone equal in score , but comparatively lower down the table than in our hopeful first round. We came joint 24th out of the 27 taking part, only 1 point from 22nd....so we weren't bottom!!
Its the taking part that counts (!) and we had an incredible time being with other clubs, sharing our love of our craft and seeing superb photographic images throughout the day.
Well done Canterbury, you held your own and we are proud to have represented KCPA this year :)
